Treatment Rundown!

After a consultation I will start with a double cleanse and warm towels, then a quick exfoliation.  I will relax and stretch all the muscles around your neck and shoulders and upper back.  Then I will begin with some facial sculpting.  The benefits can be read below.  The sculpting is aesthetically beneficial but also helps to warm the muscles ready for the buccal massage.  Once you are relaxed and feeling chilled I will pop on my gloves which are sterile and individually sealed powder free and nitrile (no latex) and begin the Buccal massage.

Take a look at the videos.  It doesn’t hurt at all.  Once the buccal massage has been done I will use some facial cupping and ice globes to finish the treatment with a leave on mask.  Call me on 07917097419 to get this booked in!

Bucca means “cheek” in Latin.. The massage is partly performed from inside the mouth to get a better access to facial muscles (therapist wears gloves for that part). The buccal massage is a relatively new technique developed to restore muscular facial tone. Face massage is based on pressure points techniques, gliding movements and is performed when client is lying down facing up.

Buccal massage allows us to reach deeper layers of the skin such as the muscle tissue, ligaments, and bones. Superficial facial massage only achieves superficial results. By working on the deeper structures, we can naturally increase facial tone, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and improve skins complexion. As a result, we can dramatically reduce visual signs of ageing without surgical interventions.

Buccal Face Massage Or ‘Internal Contouring’ Is The Latest Facial Technique Giving You Sculpted Cheekbones and relaxed buccal and masseter muscles helping relieve TMJ symptoms.  What are the benefits of internal face massage?

1. Jaw tension and stress relief
2. Alleviates headaches and migraines
3. Contours and sculpts your face
4. Reduces lines and wrinkles around the jaw area
5. De-puffs
6. Stimulates the lymphatic system
7. Re-balances and re-aligns the throat and third eye chakra

Amazing Buccal Massage for TMJ, Bruxism, Jaw Clenching

Why Massage The Masseter Muscle?

The muscle is irritated through regular use – chewing, clenching, grinding. When this happens, many problems within its surrounding area can occur.

These include:
Headaches – Regular jaw clenching can lead to tension headaches. Unfortunately, most people simply massage their temporalis muscles during headaches. This is a reflex that most of us do. While it is helpful, we often neglect one other powerful muscle – the masseter.

Toothaches and Earaches – It also serves as a trigger point for pain. Muscle pain can radiate and can be felt on nearby teeth. Some people will experience toothache like symptoms – even without tooth problems. Pain can also radiate to the ear, which is quite near the area.

Tinnitus – Tinnitus or ringing of the ear can also be caused by masseter issues, especially because of its close location to the ears as well.

Bruxism – Teeth grinding is caused by jaw cleansing and may cause uncomfortable
symptoms in the long run.  These include:

•Tension, stress and anxiety
Buccal intraoral Massage
•Loss of sleep
•Earache
•Headache
•Loose Teeth
•Sore Jaw
•Neck Pain

Benefits of a buccal tmj massage

TMJ Syndrome – This condition affects the muscles of mastication and the temporomandibular joint. Often caused by bruxism, TMJ disorder can result to pain.

Other symptoms of TMJ

Head – Forehead and temple pain, migraine and sinus pain, shooting pains in the head or neck, hair or scalp painful to touch

Eyes – Pain, bloodshot eyes which may be more sensitive to sunlight.

Mouth – limited opening of the mouth, discomfort when chewing, jaw may track to one side when opening and closing, jaw may lock shut, cant find bite point.

Ear Problems – Tinnitus, decreased hearing, ear pain with no infections, vertigo, itchy ears

Jaw problems – Clicking, grinding, popping, grating, painful cheeks

Neck Problems – Poor range of movement, neck pain, sore muscles, shoulder pain

Did you know that TMJ disorder is the second most common musculoskeletal pain after back pain?

Women seem to be affected more than men, and it is believed that hormone variations may
play a role.

Factors such as  stress may cause or aggravate this debilitating disorder. When the body experiences chronic stress, muscles become increasingly tense which may predispose the person to TMJ disorder. Chronic teeth clenching and grinding during the day or at night also create sustained muscle tension which can make TMJ disorder worse.

As you can see, there are so many contributing factors. It is not surprising, that scientists
cannot identify one single cause of TMJ disorder. Current treatments include self-care practices, pain medication, stabilization splints, Botox, surgery, and implants.

This is where Buccal massage for TMJ with sculpting shines.
